Throat Chakra: Speak Your Truth & Reclaim Your Voice

What Is the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)?

The Throat Chakra, or Vishuddha in Sanskrit, is located at the center of the throat and governs communication, self-expression, and truth. The word Vishuddha means “purification,” which speaks to this chakra’s role in helping us express our truest, clearest voice: free from fear, shame, or distortion. It's where your inner world meets the outer one, through both words and actions.

When your Throat Chakra is balanced, you're able to speak with clarity, listen with presence, and express your needs and feelings without fear. You feel confident in your voice, whether it’s spoken, sung, written, or silently felt.

On the flip side, a blocked or imbalanced throat chakra can show up as a fear of public speaking, holding back opinions, being overly shy—or, in contrast, dominating conversations, interrupting others, or speaking over people. Physically, it may manifest as tension in the neck, jaw, or throat, or even thyroid imbalances.

Throat Chakra importance for wellbeing

Expressing your truth is a healing act. When you own your voice, you begin to rewrite old stories of “too much” or “not enough.” This chakra helps build trust, deepen relationships, and reinforce a strong sense of identity.
